Modul Professional Language Competencies – B2.2
Learning objectives Students will have the ability to communicate independently in a professionally relevant written and oral manner at level B2.2 CEFR.
Depending on the focus of the chosen course, students will be able to:
– Largely understand written or oral specialist texts intended for the workplace;
– Express themselves clearly and fluently on selected topics in their specialist area, using complex language structures and in detail;
– Use a variety of strategies to ensure understanding;
– Display interdisciplinary and action-oriented skills to support written and oral communication in everyday professional life.

The students will gain intercultural competence.

Contents – Economic sectors and industries;
– Professional and activity profiles;
– Basics of business communication;
– Simulation of workplace communication situations;
– Development of written communication skills;
– Application training.

Languages available: English, French, German as a foreign language, Russian, Spanish

Teaching and learning methods 4 SWS language courses and self-study. Courses must be selected from the catalogue of courses on the TU Dresden Language Center website, as specified;
this catalogue will be announced at the beginning of each semester.
Requirements for participation Knowledge of the chosen language at level B2.1 CEFR, as can be acquired in the Foreign Languages B2.1 language learning seminar.
Usability The language learning course can be credited as a module in the study regulations of the respective degree programme and is a prerequisite for level C1.1.
Requirements for the award of credit points Language test(s) of 100 minutes. Credit points are acquired when the test(s) are passed.
Credit points and grades Graded language certificate upon passing the language test(s).
If credited as a language learning seminar, 5 CP are earned, unless regulations stipulate otherwise.
The module grade corresponds to the grade for the test(s).
Frequency Every semester
Workload 150 h total: 60 h classroom instruction + 90 h self-study (incl. exam preparation and exam)
Duration One semester
