Placement tests

PLACEMENT TESTS FOR ENGLISH, FRENCH, SPANISH, ITALIAN, PORTUGUESE, RUSSIAN AND GERMAN AS FOREIGN LANGUAGES

The placement tests are online tests. They help to determine the language level of the students, in order to be able to allocate them to the course that corresponds to their level of knowledge. The tests are to be completed independently and without aids (e.g. dictionaries).

Period: 15/09/2023, 10 a.m. to 27/10/2023, 3 p.m.

Location: the tests are accessible online in the above-mentioned period. You can also take the test in the Multimedia Language Learning Centre (MSZ; SE1, Zellescherweg 22, 2nd floor).

English:

Foreign students who do not have a German Abitur must take the English placement test before registering for any English language course!

French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Russian and German as a foreign language:

Placement tests are mandatory to prove your current level of ability.

 

Test procedure for all languages:

  1. Please go to the following website: TU Dresden placement tests.
  2. Click on the appropriate test for your language (click on the appropriate title of your e-test). The login page appears.
  3. Log in as a guest (below the login menu).
  4. Click on the link to the test with the red icon “(“language”) test” then click on the button “start e-test”.The test opens in a new tab. On the introductory page of the test you will find a link to the mock test.
  5. Start the placement test by clicking on start. You have 25 minutes for the test.

You will receive the result (score/ language course level) immediately after the end of the test. Print it out and bring it with you to the first lesson.
