Contents: | - Awareness of text procedures and their linguistic functions in academic text types, - Teaching suitable listening, reading, comprehension and information processing strategies, - Development of working techniques and strategies for the reception of study-related text types, in particular reading of scientific and subject-related text types such as lecture slides, scripts, subject-related textbooks, - Simultaneous listening in lectures and seminars; reading scripts or PowerPoint slides; writing of the recipient, - Recognizing relevant linguistic means and structures. |
Prerequisite: | B2 or proof of knowledge through a placement test. |

Workload: | The total workload is 75 hours. Of these, 30 hours are accounted for by attendance and 45 hours by self-study, including preparation for the exam and completion of the exam. |

Qualification goals: | The students are able to study independently and produce work-related written and oral communication in German at level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The students can understand complex scientific written or oral technical texts to a large extent, express them clearly and fluently in detail and use complex linguistic structures on selected topics in their field, use a variety of strategies to ensure understanding. The students have intercultural skills. The aim of the course is to improve the reception and processing of specialist knowledge in academic text types. It is about text type characteristics, style, and grammatical and other linguistic phenomena. |
Usability: | General language requirement level B2+ taking into account the respective study regulations / prerequisite for level C1. |
