Contents: | - Improvement of technical and scientific language skills, as well as language skills in everyday university life, - Typical structures of specialist texts and in-depth reading strategies for faster and more efficient evaluation of specialist texts and research literature, - Training in correct citation and bibliography, - Exercises for editing and summarizing (orally) text content with typical grammatical structures - Work planning and time management of a larger academic work, - Oral poster presentation including defences. |
Prerequisite: | B2+ or proof of knowledge through a placement test. |

Workload: | The total workload is 75 hours. Of these, 30 hours are accounted for by attendance and 45 hours by self-study, including preparation for the exam and completion of the exam. |

Qualification goals: | The students are able to study independently and produce work-related written and oral communication in German at level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The students can understand complex scientific written technical texts, express themselves clearly and fluently in detail and use complex linguistic structures as well as an extensive general and technical vocabulary on topics in their field, follow and participate in complex interactions in discussions, even with abstract and complex topics, use language flexibly and effectively for the expression of inauthenticity such as irony, allusions, imagery, deal effectively with communication and cultural problems. During the semester, students work on their own poster project, which promotes and continuously optimizes their own technical language skills. The project is based on literature and other research on a self-chosen topic with a subject-related orientation. |
