Target group: | This course is primarily aimed at students of international relations, as well as law and political science at the TU Dresden. It is also open to all interested students from other disciplines. |
Contents: | In a business context, the students simulate the preparation and implementation of an international conference. This includes research on the subject of the conference, determination of the working method; embodying a (national) identity; negotiate; writing common conference and accompanying documents etc. |
Prerequisite: | B2+ or proof of knowledge through a placement test. |

Workload: | The total workload is 230 hours. Of these, 60 hours are accounted for by attendance and 170 hours by self-study, including exam preparation and completion of the exam. |
Examinations: | - Project work and simulation (90 minutes) - The credit points are earned when the examination is passed. (a) the preparation of conference documents totaling a maximum of 70 working hours, (b) a negotiation simulation totaling 90 minutes as a group exam. |
Credit points and grades: | - Graded participation certificate - The final grade for UNIcert®III results from the unweighted mean of the grades from the four partial examinations. The partial exams cannot be offset. |
Qualification goals: | The students have the ability to study independently and produce work-related written and oral communication in French at level C1+ of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The aim of this course is to enable the students to move linguistically appropriately on the international stage. The students can understand complex scientific and job-related written or oral specialist texts, express themselves clearly and fluently in detail and using complex linguistic structures, as well as an extensive general and specialist vocabulary on topics in their field, follow complex interactions in discussions, even with abstract and complex topics and participate, use language flexibly and effectively for the expression of inauthenticity such as irony, allusions, imagery, deal effectively with communication and cultural problems. |
Usability: | General language requirement level C1+ taking into account the respective study regulations / prerequisite for level C2 and level UNIcert@III. |
