Qualification goals: | The course is designed for students studying English as part of Advanced Professional English, Advanced Business English, Elective/Minor and other interested parties. The teaching of regional and cultural knowledge (history, geography, economy, politics, [inter-]cultural specifics, etc.) of the respective country or region takes place. –> ’USA’ or ’ENGLISH SPEAKING COUNTRIES’ This involves developing listening comprehension in an academic context, including taking notes of lectures (and possibly writing an essay) on the topics presented. The speakers come from the respective region and inform and educate the listeners from their perspective. In addition, the participants are confronted with different regional variants of English (American, British, Australian, Irish, Indian, etc.). |
