Contents: | - Development of a basic vocabulary of approx. 400 words. - Mediation and practice of selected areas of basic grammar (morphology: indicative present/aorist stem, imperative, infinitive, present participle/aorist, all declensions; syntax: clauses of different types, sentence constructions. - Imparting and practicing basic skills for decoding and recoding adapted Greek original texts and simple original texts (with comments). - Imparting basic knowledge of Greek cultural history. |

Workload: | The workload is 150 hours. Of this, 90 hours are devoted to self-study, including exam preparation and completion of the exam. |
Credit points and grades: | The credit points are acquired if the examinations are passed. The exam consists of a written exam of 90 minutes and, if required, an oral exam of 15 minutes. The oral examination is only required in some courses. |
Examinations: | - Graded participation certificate if only an exam is written. - If credited as a module (written exam and oral exam), 5 credit points are acquired unless the subject study regulations specify otherwise. - If an oral examination is required, the examinations are weighted 2 (written exam) : 1 (oral exam), unless another weighting is specified in the respective study regulations. - The examination results cannot be offset. |
Qualification goals: | At level A1/A 2+ of the Common European Framework of Reference, the students have a secure knowledge of selected areas of basic Greek grammar and can actively apply and reflect on this when developing texts. They master the methods of decoding and recoding adapted Greek original texts and simple original texts (prose) with appropriate aids at a speed of at least one word/minute. The students are able to classify these texts in their historical-cultural context and have selected knowledge of individual epochs, genres, and authors of Greek literary history up to the imperial period. |
Usability: | - In courses of study that provide for language seminars / language courses in the core or supplementary area. |
Teaching material: | The following grammar is used in the courses: Eduard Bornemann / Ernst Risch, Griechische Grammatik Diesterweg, ISBN 978-3425068503. (If available, you can also use other grammars such as Leggewie: Grammatik zum Lehrwerk "Ars Graeca") (Schöningh-Verlag) / Kaegi / System-Grammatiken zu den Lehrwerken "Hellas" oder "Kairos" - but you then have to choose the right page yourself for the respective grammar topic.) |
