Contents: | - Development of a basic vocabulary of approx. 400 words. - Mediation and practice of selected areas of basic grammar (morphology: indicative present/aorist stem, imperative, infinitive, present participle/aorist, all declensions; syntax: clauses of different types, sentence constructions. - Imparting and practicing basic skills for decoding and recoding adapted Greek original texts and simple original texts (with comments). - Imparting basic knowledge of Greek cultural history. |

Workload: | The workload is 150 hours. Of this, 90 hours are devoted to self-study, including exam preparation and completion of the exam. |
Credit points and grades: | The credit points are acquired if the examinations are passed. The exam consists of a written exam of 90 minutes and, if required, an oral exam of 15 minutes. The oral examination is only required in some courses. |
Examinations: | - Graded participation certificate if only an exam is written. - If credited as a module (written exam and oral exam), 5 credit points are acquired unless the subject study regulations specify otherwise. - If an oral examination is required, the examinations are weighted 2 (written exam) : 1 (oral exam), unless another weighting is specified in the respective study regulations. - The examination results cannot be offset. |
Qualification goals: | The students have a solid knowledge of selected areas of basic Greek grammar at level A1 / A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference and can actively apply and reflect on this in text analysis. They master the methods of decoding and recoding of adapted Greek original texts and simple original texts (texts from the New Testament and the Christian environment up to the Byzantine period) with appropriate aids at a speed of at least one word/minute. |
Usability: | - Core area of the bachelor’s degree in Protestant Theology, - Supplementary area of Protestant theology (70 credit points) of the relevant bachelor’s degree in the Faculty of Arts, and in the second subject of Protestant theology in the bachelor’s degree in linguistics, literature and cultural studies. It creates the prerequisite for the module PhF-EvTh-BA-BT and PhF-EvTh-BA-IP. - LA at high schools (EGS-SEGY-2) - LA at vocational schools (EGS-SEBS-1) - Technical and interdisciplinary specialization II (middle school) EGS-SEMS-3 |
Teaching material: | Grammar: Heinrich von Siebenthal: Kurzgrammatik zum griechischen Neuen Testament. Brunnen-Verlag Gießen 2005. ISBN 3-7655-9491-1 (available in bookstores). The grammar is required from the first event. Dictionary: is required during the course (recommended for LA students: Benseler, Griechisch-Deutsches Schulwörterbuch ab 15. Aufl. or Gemoll, Griechisch-Deutsches Schul-und Handwörterbuch. In addition to Gemoll, the list of irregular verb stems from Benseler could be used. |
